The Television Academy Foundation announced the 35th College Television Awards winners on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre. Presented by a number of celebrities and entertainment influencers, awards were conferred to students who demonstrated excellence in entertainment content production. One of the Foundation's seminal programs, the College Television Awards is a national competition in the tradition of the Emmy Awards that provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to submit and showcase their work in front of industry leaders and professionals.

The Grand Film Festival features student, professional films and shorts

Continuing its efforts to show that art is not limited to something that sits on a pedestal or hangs on a wall, the Arts Council of Southern Indiana is launching its Grand Film Festival. Showcasing 24 films by local filmmakers and college students, the festival starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Grand in downtown New Albany. .....Inspired by his father’s battle with disability after a tragic accident, Narse made a film about a basketball player attempting a comeback in a wheelchair. “I hope this film encourages all to explore our passion and give strength to live in any challenging situation,” he said in his festival application form. “The animation is truly Disney quality,” Schweitzer said. “It’s absolutely incredible. I can’t wait for people to see it.”....

Speechless Film Festival winners announced

Bethany Lutheran College is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 Speechless Film Festival. Speechless is an international film festival for both students and professionals. Speechless observes and celebrates the art of visual storytelling. Entries were judged by Donna Casella, Minnesota State University, Mankato; Sean Cobb, Gustavus Adolphus College; Lars Johnson, Bethany Lutheran College; Amy Magnus, South Central College; and Andrew Newell. Professional winners receive a $1000 prize and student winners receive $500.

 

....The winner of the student animation/experimental/other category is a five-minute film titled I M Possibleby Savannah College of Art and Design student Prasad Narse.....
